ALPHA FETO PROTEIN

Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a protein primarily produced by the fetal liver and yolk sac during pregnancy. In adults, high blood levels of AFP serve as a critical tumor marker used to help diagnose, stage, and monitor the treatment of certain cancers, predominantly liver and germ cell tumors.
